Honouring God With Your Life!

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.  Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honour giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Read Romans 12:9-21.

Memory Verse: For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:6.

I have seen some recruiters advertise vacancies just mentioning the role without the job description. Without doubt, this is one unpleasant thing to experience by a jobseeker as everyone loves to apply for a job with title as it gives a rough idea of renumerations, but without a job description makes it very unpleasant as uncertainties starts to rise up. Do I qualify for this position? Even if I apply, will I get a call up for an interview, let alone get hired for the job? These rhetorical questions start to pop up because the individual simply applied for the title not knowing what the employee’s deliverables are. A job title shows a position which will be filled but two individuals occupying the same position may in reality be doing two different things at work.

One individual may be doing the bare minimum in line with that role but another individual may be more advanced because they have infect more defined responsibilities and Ad-Hoc duties at work which most likely prepares them for the road ahead.

The word “Christian ” has become a title to many as they have adopted Christianity either by birth or association but soon enough because of continued association, an individual may genuinely give his or her life to Christ, become saved and be called “Born Again”; a step which moves a person to being called “A child of God” Romans 10:9. This individual becomes God’s responsibility therefore He releases the Holyspirt to us and with his indwelling, we are constantly reminded that we are God’s children.

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Galatians 4:6-7.

Once saved, everything in an individual’s life changes 2 Corinthians 5:17, At this phase. an individual is longer controlled by the flesh but is now devoted to God and live to please God only. Any individual who says they are born-again Christian and still has their mind set to pleasing the flesh is not living to honour and neither pleasing God therefore they are as good as an unbeliever.

For the children of God, it’s important to be led by His spirit and be guided by His word, Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God Romans 8:7-8.

Living a life that honours God means intentionally living according to His word.
