If God is all loving, why am I suffering?

“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Memory verse: No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.1 Corinthians 10:13

Once there was a young guy who met a lady and fell in love with her.  Their love life went through a lot of challenges but finally they had a chance to get married and after so much waiting, their marriage became fruitful, and they had a baby. The man loved their son so much because of the love he had for his wife. The little boy had almost everything going on just well in his life and He definitely had a promising future. As He continued to grow, he became more handsome, hard-working, talented and loved by His father and almost all around Him until the time came in His life to begin His journey to greatness.

The first step of the rest of the journey into greatness began at some point when he was in his late teen years, he went on an errand of no return. His life went from good to bad and then worsened. Every time things looked like they were heading in the right direction, something happens that redirected him to somewhere worse than He was initially positioned. It seemed like his life was all over the place with no specific achievement to point to.

He suffered so much in the hands of everyone he came in contact with, and the devil presented him so many opportunities to take the easy way out but he was from a child very honest in all his dealings, so shortcuts were not his way of life. He would rather get things done right so he turned down every opportunity that seemed illegal. As a result of not taking those opportunities which seemed like golden glittery tickets, he was in a mess until his time for suffering was over and things change for him greatly.

The little dude is Joseph, Jacob’s son. Genesis 37 describes the beginning of Josephs life and how his honesty led to him being hated. This together with his dream caused his brothers to sell him into slavery and he was passed on as a slave again to Potiphar’s house. Despite the Lord being on his side, Joseph still ended up being accused wrongly and put back into prison. He went from being daddy’s favourite son into Slavery, then into prison, Genesis 39. The real definition of bad – worse.

In prison he interpreted Pharaoh’s dream and was promoted from prisoner to being the prime minister. He was thirty years old so all these changes too thirteen years(17-30yrs). Many times, in life we have questions lingering on our minds, some of which we may have tried to find the right answers to why God allows certain things to occur. One thing is clear from the story of Joseph that God allows us to go through certain stages in life to prepare us for the greater place He is taking us to.

If we seem to do everything right but seem to be suffering then it’s good to understand that as Christians we will definitely face many trials and tribulations and this phases are just some of them but we  know that God will never put us through that which we cannot bear.
