Divine Instruction!

“Then Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise and go, you and your household, and stay wherever you can; for the Lord has called for a famine, and furthermore, it will come upon the land for seven years.”So the woman arose and did according to the saying of the man of God, and she went with her household and dwelt in the land of the Philistines seven years.”

Memory Verse: The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,And He delights in his way. Psalms 37:23

How do you make decisions? Do you just go with the flow or make decisions based on what’s trendy in the news or social media? In fact, does God give very specific instructions like we read in the bible and who are those that benefits from it? Many people believe those who get early information about a thing and tag along are those who benefit the most from it but as with everything in life, there’s a lot of risk associated with being the pioneers. Where do we stand then with all these uncertainties?

The story of the Shunamite woman is one of the most interesting stories in the bible as we see someone who was selfless. She was wealthy and kind but had also given up on having a child as God is yet to bless her with one. She lived her life, but her kindness played off when she housed Elisha. The prophet prophesied into her life, and she had a son. Then the worse happen because the long-awaited child died. Elisha raised the boy from the dead according to  2 Kings 4:8-37, but their story didn’t end there as the woman continued to enjoy the benefit of her kindness as she got a divine instruction ahead of everyone else. The woman was instructed specially to relocate from her location to avoid the disaster that was about to fall on the land 2Kings 8:1.

The woman was able to benefit from divine instruction because of her relationship with Elisha. When it comes to instructions from God, don’t just do the random, go the God’s way or liaise with those who have a relationship with God. There are some privileges that would be enjoyed by the multitude, but some are only for the benefits of  those who are planted and remain rightly positioned.

If the woman has acted unjustly because she lost her son, she would have lost her son completely and  died in the famine that God decreed on Israel, but because of her continued kindness, obedience and respect for the thing of God, the famine had 0% impact of her family and when she returned into the land, she was paid all the income she would have made in that land for the seven years she was gone. 2 Kings 8:6.

There is no rush or competition in life. If God gives you an instruction, He will grant you peace that surpasses any human understand such that even when trouble blows your way, His peace will be greater than the storm.

Every decision is important, but none is worth making if God is not involved.
