Love At The Centre of Christianity!

At that time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt. And on the eighth day they held a sacred assembly, for they observed the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.  On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the good that the Lord had done for David, for Solomon, and for His people Israel.

Memory verse: He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:8.

A few days ago, I walked pass the town centre of the area where I live in and I saw something interesting. It was a warm day and a local estate agent decided to give out free drinks on the street. It didn’t end there as the supported it with some amazing cookie and this was not only for those who were making home enquirers, this was for anyone and everyone walking on the street even those who could not afford a home at the time.

That day, I thought of how this many seem like a marketing strategy to some but for another, they simply wanted something to drink in a very warm weather some someone fulfilled their need. With or without a motive, they met people’s needs and, in a world where most people are struggling, a little bit of love goes a long way.

Christianity is losing its power because there is so much attachment to material things. Everyone is hording and hording and gradually we are acting and looking like the rich fool in the bible. A church with so much ,give so little because they are saving for the rainy day hence it’s alright for others to suffer . Sometime church’s arrange events  tagged as evangelism but with the aim of recruiting church members and not Christ followers.

The difference between Solomon and the rich fool is that the rich fool in Luke 12:16-21 is that once he had more , he demolished his old storage to build a bigger storage whiles Solomon displayed love in giving. The bible says  that  Solomon had dedication and  feast fourteen days, and all Israel with him. The sacrifice to God meant that everyone around him benefited continually from his heart and act of love 2 Chronicle 7:8.

A Christian’s mind who ought to be transformed by the love felt by the church is discouraged by the church and driven into the streets because the street seems attractive. Love is evidence of Christianity and until the church aligns with the word of God by demonstrating love, the street will continue to conveniently compete for the souls of men .

We live by the mercy of God, and we ought to master the act of practicalising our message of love to the world.
