Bible Text: Matthew 28:18-20 “Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”
Memory Verse: Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present and threatening, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”.
Fear is a really bad thing and unfortunately majority of the people in the world today live in constant fear. It’s from the fear of one thing to another and before you know it an individual’s day to day life is enveloped in fear. Fear is an instrument used by the devil to intimidate us, he systematically applies fear to certain happenings in our lives to the point we feel rejected and start to think God is definitely not in the midst of our situation. In light of this, we become extremely depressed thinking we have been abandon by God.
If you fall in a similar situation, I will like to encourage you that this is all lies of the devil. He is cunning to the point of disrupting all things to convince you that God is not in your picture but you need to remember God’s promises to you. He promised to always be with you and never forsake you. This He has proven this various times in your life, in mine and even in the times of old as we see in the bible. God is the same and never turns back on his word.
Various times in the bible, we see sour situations and occurrences like war, famine, flood, disaster, plague, suffering, misdirection and more, and interestingly we see God in the midst of them all. His word confirms the earth is His and nothing is permitted nor can happen without His knowledge. Yes, God is in the midst of it all and He is well aware of it. There’s a saying which goes that “a leaf cannot fall from a tree without God knowing about it” and this is true to our lives because God does know about each and every moment of our lives, every step and move we make, every situation we find ourselves in, He is always there, sometimes aloud and at time quietly just watching.
Today we see Jesus sending out His disciple after He had risen from the dead. I like the sequence of events that took place in the book of Matthew, because Christ’s resurrection, gives every believer in Him clarity, direction and peace. First He said “Rejoice” Matthew 28:8 and secondly He told the people where they can find Him Matthew 28:10 and finally He gave them the great commission with a promise to always be with them forever Matthew 28:19-20.
The promise backing up disciples of Christ has never changed, Jesus is with you always and this is what gives Apostle Paul the confidence to say that “NOTHING” can and will separate is from the love of Christ. Those things may happen and tend to shake even the faith of the most devoted Christians but the assurance we have in Christ is that everything In heaven and on earth is subject to the authority of Christ.
