Who Is Your Back Bone?

“But the LORD said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of their faces, For I am with you to deliver you,” says the LORD. Then the LORD put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.”

Memory verse: “For the LORD will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard” Isaiah 52:12b

Starting a new phase of any sort in life can be equally interesting and scary because even with the best preparations ahead, some things happen out of the blue which have the ability to ruin a perfectly planed journey. Christians are not immune to this disruption and for a fact we are a constant target for the devil who is working tirelessly to disrupt our journeys. The impact becomes heavy at times, to the point it leads to frustration and unwillingness to progress.

Saying that things will always go well and smooth as planned is the biggest denial anyone can live in but the understanding of our position in God can help us progress with ease on the journey ahead and we see this instance in the life of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah was just like every other human being. We can be so quick to find an excuse of why we don’t qualify for certain assignments but interestingly our ways of assessing qualifications is different from that of God’s and this makes easy to visualize when God is in action. When God sends you on an assignment, it’s usually bigger than you and often out of your comfort zone which automatically triggers the doubt of success from your side but never from Gods side.

When God called Jeremiah, He had already equipped Him ahead for the journey but Jeremiah’s acceptance and faith in God was the main ingredient needed to activate that phase of His life. The power backing Jeremiah’s service and assignment was God’s power; therefore, failure was completely out of the question. The devil while trying to hinder progress will initiate all sort of blockers but the power backing Jeremiah was greater than any turbulence ahead so the journey ended up a success despite all the hurdles on the way to it.

Before we commence any journey in life, it’s important to know who is backing you. In Africa where I grew up, certain people were referred to as godfather, these were people who stood as a pillar and made sure their mentee was successful at most things and for such reasons we find out that their mentee often progresses faster than their peers. This automatically meant that those without recognised backing were de-prioritized and had less chances of success.

God is bigger than any godfather. Even those who have the strongest support systems cannot stand in the presence of anyone being backed by the Lord because when God speaks through you, He gives your words authority.

Don’t get carried away by human praise or embark on any journey without God’s backing as such usually leads to frustration.

Be wise, Stay connected to God and have His backing all day every day.

PRAYERS:
