The Sower Has Sown Part 3 of 5, Guard Your Heart!

And the seeds that fell along the road are the people who hear the message. But the devil comes and snatches the message out of their hearts, so they will not believe and be saved.

Memory Verse: Obey God’s message! Don’t fool yourselves by just listening to it. James 1:22.

When the scripture speaks about guarding our hearts, I have always mistaken those words for what I see and what I allow into my heart to think. The idea for me was that I prevented evil or thoughts of it from entering into my heart, so I generally put an imaginary gate there, preventing every sort relating to what I thought about that passage become a manifestation. I constantly say things like “no please” I don’t want to be led to sin but the imperfect me does not have a clear understanding and the interpretation of what that word of God really means.

King David must have been in that same position. He was a good man and the bible described him as a man after God’s heart even from a young age; but David’s heart was exposed. His exposure did not come from seeing a woman taking a bath, but the origin of his exposure was his positioning.

The Bible records that David was having a nap at a time when kings went to war and while taking a walk, he saw a woman taking her bath. What was he doing walking on top of the city roofs anyway? 2 Samuel 11:1-4. Was that the first time a woman will be having a bath in David’s eye? While we don’t know the answer to that, what we know is that the devil used that single instance as an entrance into his life and he committed multiple sins kicking off from Adultery to Murder and the rest that followed.

Today we read about the Parable of the Sower, who sows His word – The word of God and the people hear the message, but before they can make anything out of it, the devil snatches it from their hearts because he knows if those hearts understand it, they will be saved.

The word of God goes out daily and we know this because we see churches full of people who hear the word but do not have a good understanding or clear interpretation of it. This is  because they have given the devil easy access into their lives, so though they hear it, they lose every meaning of it and become just hearers of the word. This can change! It is a decision of the hearer to become transformed though the Holy Spirit and become a doer also.

Are you just a hearer or a religious Christian? Has the devil made his way into your heart?

It may be difficult to know the truth if you are a religious Christian and not a practical one. But a way to know that you are still retaining and understanding the word of God is if you do what He says.

The Sower has sown, but is the soil in your heart good enough and most importantly ready to accommodate His word without letting distractions of the world take it off you?

Let You heart receive him! He has set life and death before you; choose life!
