God Takes Life Seriously!

God Takes Life Seriously!

Bible Text: Genesis 9:5  “If anyone takes human life, he will be punished. I will punish with death any animal that takes a human life.”

Memory Verse: Exodus 20:13 “Do not commit murder.”

In recent years, so much hostilities have been experienced around the globe, a lot of homicides, genocides, wild fire deaths, random shootings, gang attack, cultist wars and more. Even most recent is the United States of America and Iran tussle and threats of vengeance in which many lives have already been lost. Have you ever wondered why people are daily losing their lives over issues that are totally not worth it and why the tally keeps increasing? People are becoming more fearful everyday cumbered with how the human race is crumbling and no reduction in its causes. The world seems to have lost its moral values on appreciating and preserving the gift of life.

The fact is God takes it personally when an individual takes another’s life and there is nothing good that will ever come for such act. Not only has God made it clear in Genesis 9:5, it was evident in His reaction to the case of King David and Uriah, read 2 Samuel 11. At the end of that chapter we see that Uriah’s life ended through King David’s plot and as a result King David was cursed by the Lord, read 2Samuel 12:10-12. King David did not escape any of those curses.

Even though King David was blessed by the Lord and seen as a man after God’s heart, His decision to end a human’s life whom God created in His own image meant he provoked the Lord and incurred a curse. Taking a human life doesn’t necessarily mean physically plotting to kill them like David did but any of your intentional actions and reactions that leads to end of life could be count as murder.

The parable Jesus told of the Samaritan In Luke 10:25-37 is an example of how an individual can be involved in ending another person’s life without knowing it. The simple fact that a priest and Levite intentionally left the attacked and wounded man to die means they will both have to face God at judgment day with a possibility of being told they are not known despite every other miracle they performed in God’s name, Matthew 7:21-23.

Knowing God includes understanding what He hates completely. Of all his creation, the only one He created like Himself is man and ending the life of a man either directly or indirectly means you are in enmity with God, an act for which there will always be consequences.

Even animals that takes human lives already have automatic death sentence hanging round their neck by man so there is no exception to punishment when life is involved. The 6th of the 10 commandments makes it very clear “Do not commit murder, Exodus 20:13 .

Only God who gives life is allowed to take it when it pleases Him.

PRAYERS:

  • Father I thank You for another beautiful day
  • Father bring peace to the nations and an end to every hostilities, create a safer world in the year 2020
  • Help nations to understand the value of life and the increase the zeal to preserve it.
  • Forgive my sins O Lord and let your mercy prevail over judgement
  • Thank you Father and in Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.
