Bible Text: Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.”
Memory Verse: Isaiah 30:21 “If you wander off the road to the right or the left, you will hear his voice behind you saying, here is the road. Follow it.”
How many times do you make plans then progress without involving God in it? Some will go as far as completing all without speaking to God at all or seeking Him for direction, then instead of having peace all around upon completion, they start to encounter one problem or another and the usual comment is “but I did thanks giving when I completed this project”? But the question is, where did you place God all along, was He even evident in the plan at all?
Consulting God before doing a thing is different from doing it and going to speak to Him right after. Speaking to Him after does not guarantee you no aches and pains as all you have done is initiated a plan, followed it through and given God FYI.
When you consult God before taking an action, you are asking for His input, permission and direction on how to go about it. An example was set by King David according to 1Samuel 30:8. Before He progressed to recover all that was taken away from his city by the Amalekites, He sought God’s face. As we know, David from the very start was a man totally dependent on God for all His battles including the first which involved Goliath, read 1Samuel 17.
Interestingly, while you are making plans, God already had one for you and if there is no connection between your plan and His, you may be wasting a lot of time doing and achieving nothing. It’s time to start following God’s direction to save yourself heartaches and frustration down the line. Abraham had to send His first son away from his home and though this broke his heart, but it was a little price to pay for not speaking to God before progressing to have a child with Hagar, Read Genesis 21:9-21.
When Abraham was to find His son Isaac a wife, he called his servant to go on the search for a wife. Though there was a vow between Abraham and his servant, the servant prayed to God and committed all unto God before he conducted the search. He spoke specific words to God about it and if it didn’t happen that way, he will know the journey was ordered by the Lord; else He had an agreement which frees him off the vow, Read Genesis 24. God glorified Himself in that search but the way I see it, if God had not come through, Abraham’s servant would have wasted his time going in all that journey.
What are you planning in your journey to life? you might have not included God all the way but you can still have a happy ending if you stop now and speak to God about it. The years you’ve spent wondering is nothing compared to the years you have to enjoy if you follow God’s direction.
Abraham only started following God’s direction at age 75 but he still benefitted from all the blessings God had for Him and Hid generation.
Now is the time to start following Gods direction. He alone knows and sees the end from the beginning and will lead you through to the right path He has planned for you.
