Finding Purpose – Part 1

“The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. Then He caused me to pass by them all around, and behold, there were very many in the open valley; and indeed they were very dry.”

Memory Verse: “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21.

Do you walk with God in your daily life? I don’t mean do you go to church events or join prayer gathering  do you deliberate with the Holy Spirit in your day-to-day activity? How does it feel being told by the Holy Spirit to step out from your life of luxury and stable life into somewhere hopeless? I will certainly dismiss that in first instance and quote, Jeremiah 29:19.

What is a valley? I thought Jesus already said it will no longer matter where we serve the Lord because God is Omnipresent, so why the valley? The valley is a totally unlovable! It’s a place between mountains, hills, maybe even formed through an erosion. What good could be in a place like that? I’ll rather be here where I am doing what I know how to do best because His word says “Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours” Deuteronomy 11:24aTherefore, I am established here and have no reason to go from this settled life into anywhere else? God cannot possibly take me backwards.

If this sounds like you and you’re still trying to justify your reason for any form of disobedience, then you are simply not ready to do exploits. The world calls something “finding your niche” , this was the case with the giant players in the mobile phone and tablet industry, Apple and Blackberry. A few journals were written long before blackberry crashed noting that it’s rigid nature and structure meant that iPhone will send blackberry packing completely. Steve Jobs created his own path, he found his niche and learnt from blackberry.

There comes a time in life where there might be a need to change location, structure, approach and attitude to be that extraordinary person God created you to be, but your lack of understanding may keep you on the same spot assuming you are at the max and are making steady progress. The valley was indeed very dry when Prophet Ezekiel got there, full of dry bones but God sent him down just there – Yes! In the valley.

Amongst the dry bones in the valley was just where God wanted him to be at that time. This was for him to do what he has never done before. Finding your purpose may mean being in a very unpalatable environment, but if God leads you there then best trust in His understanding not yours.

Your purpose can only be found in His purpose for you. The first step to finding your purpose is being rightly positioned , being where God want you to be.

Can you hear God, did He positioned you or did you position yourself? Galatians 5:16.
