Lessons from Daniel Chapter 6 Part 1 Topic: Your role as the Account Exec!

It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps, to be over the whole kingdom; and over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give account to them, so that the king would suffer no loss. Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.

Memory Verse: For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.” Genesis 18:19.

A few years ago, I worked with a financial organisation who was very process driven and believed a lot in maintaining good governance. During that time, I studied the hierarchy closely and there was a name right at the top, she was a young lady who had the title ‘Account Exec’ next to her name. She was not involved in the day to day running of the project, wouldn’t have been able to describe the mid or low level details of what was going on in the project, but she was responsible for ensuring that whatever we did as a project team, aligned to the values of the overall organisation.

She did not get there by accident, she knew her stuff and it was evident when we went on our weekly calls because she asked really intelligent questions. She had only 30min in a week to speak about my project and we were responsible for ensuring we covered all fronts else we would been seen as incompetent and incapable of delivering that project. In worse scenarios, our contracts could be terminated, and we because we couldn’t afford that happening, we worked extra hard as a team ahead of this 30mins call, ensuring that when asked questions, we either has a perfect answer, a present status or demonstrated willingness to follow up and report back to the audience ASAP.

As it on earth, so it is in heaven. As it was in the past, so it is now. King Darius was a leader or let me say a Royal Exec who set governors over his kingdom. Three Governors who had to govern one hundred and twenty tribes. They were all account execs who had just one purpose – Ensure Kind Darius kingdom suffer no loss. Of those three, Daniel was a different individual. He had the spirit of God in Him and knew that he was not only working for the King but working for the Lord.

Do you know who you work for? Are you well aware of your responsibility as a child of God or do you deprioritize the things of God? Being an account exec for God is not  a position to be taken for granted and you cannot deliver if you don’t understand your role. The bible tells us various detailed descriptions of the position we hold and since God holds us dearly, the least we can do is repay by holding Him so dearly.

If you had a review, what will God say about you?
