Carrying Out Your Assignment!

“It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, “Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”

Memory verse: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26

Majority of the time, life blows us in different directions and often these causes a lot of disruption to our everyday life’s set routine. Most importantly, the disruptions have massive impacts on our time of arrival at our desired destination or may even prevent us from reaching the destination all together; all because we were originally not rightly and properly positioned.

A common saying which goes “be at the right place at the right time” does not only apply to a few things but impacts everything in our lives. Even more worrying is the fact that most people, Christians inclusive, don’t really know what their assignment in life is and at such they don’t know exactly where to be positioned for purpose to be achieved. To carry out a task, plan towards and fulfill a specific assignment, I believe you need to know what it is first.

The number one job of the Holyspirit is to teach us and the act of teaching is not limited to scriptures alone but also about life principles and more. As the Holyspirit is the spirit of God which dwells in us, every aspect of our lives is being moved in the direction God wants and it becomes impossible to miss being in our place of assignment as dependents of God.

Without doubt, God created us with smart features one of which is the ability to reason, think and have a good idea of what we desire but then we need to remember He also imbibed in us the wisdom to know that we are not independent of Him; but our number one problem commences when we suppress the voice of the Holyspirit and become our own teacher. When we do so, the chances are that we gradually start edging away from where God has positioned us to towards the world’s direction; which is where the devil wants us and so we evaluate our lives based on what the world thinks and measure success not by God’s but the world’s parameters. When this happens we shift from our place of assignment and start heading towards creating our own destruction.

The life of David was all shades of beautiful right before he was anointed by Prophet Samuel because even as a boy, he not only knew the Lord but positioned himself right with the Lord until he became king of Israel but as life continued to evolve, we see that David started to make compromises until he committed adultery  with Bathsheba.

The first verse of today’s bible verse makes it clear that David knew the time for his assignment at war as a king but because he was missing at his place of assignment things went terribly wrong for him.

What has God called u to do? What is your distraction? What is standing in the way of you going to your place of assignment? There may never be progress until you are rightly positioned towards your place of assignment.

I encourage you to seek God’s face today about your purpose and ask him to place you in the right position to attain it. God will help us run the race till the end, finish well and live a purpose filled life in Jesus name, Amen.
